A novel phosphor BaAl2O4 doped with different rare earth ions (Tb, Pr and Sm) are developed by solid-state reaction (SSR) method and combustion method. X-Ray diffraction (XRD) patterns are recorded in order to see the structure of the compound and detect that the presence of dopants has an e?ect on the basic crystal structure of the phosphor materials. Energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and electron microscope images are taken for chemical and structural properties of the materials. In this research, cathodoluminescence emission spectrum recorded under excitation with the electron beam of BaAl2O4 activated with Pr, Tb and Sm ions are reported and possible energy transitions will be studied in detail. In addition to that, a series of thermoluminscence (TL) measurements for the temperature range from room temperature up to 400°C are performed. TL response, heating rate properties, as well as peak shapes are investigated. It is expected that prepared phosphor materials will be very suitable for use a promising luminescence material in solid state lighting (SSL) applications which promotes renewable energy technologies.
