Résumé:

This thesis deals with the teaching of English at the secondary school level. It concerns the problems these learns encounter during their journey of learning journey of learning this international language. One of the main problems is their lack of motivation, which is a serious obstacle that renders the teacher’s task more difficult and more demanding in terms of energy and innovation. To find the reasons behind the learner’s lack of motivation, an action research is done in a secondary school suggesting the hypothesis that the background with which learns came to the third year secondary level plays a role in preventing them from making efforts to learn this language. The other cause is the double function English has as the language of knowledge and the medium of instruction. This leads us to investigate a very important member in the educational unity: the teacher.
